….there is a season……

Dear Friends in Christ~

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven”              Ecclesiastes 3: 1

September, the month of transitions. Sunday School begins, the choir reassembles for practice and will again fill the first two pews during the worship services where they will add their voices in song to greatly enhance the worship experience, people will be returning from their summer adventures that have taken them away during the summer months. September is a magical month.

I do hope that you all had a wonderful summer and are now energized to take on all that this season of transition has to offer. As we prepare to put away our summer wardrobe and bring out our sweaters, it is always a bit bittersweet time of the year. As seasons transition into the next, there is a mourning for the moments that have slipped into memory, but also a real anticipation for the delights ahead. I look forward to cool autumn evenings and pumpkins and the Agates’ football games.

There is so much here at United to look forward to as well. A vibrant group is preparing to journey to the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota to work on the houses of the elders of that tribe. If you are interested in participating in this mission adventure that will be happening October 14-19, please…let’s talk. The group is also collecting school supplies for the children of Spirit Lake. There is preparation happening for the annual Roast Beef Dinner and auction that raises money to fight hunger, and again, much help is needed, so let me know if you are willing to assist. Habitat for Humanity will be working on homes in Two Harbors the week of September 10th. If you would like to join the work groups I can give you that information. United will be providing lunch on the 13th for the Habitat workers, so let me know if you would like to join that crew. The 50th anniversary of the uniting of United is coming quickly (June 14-16, 2019) and there is a plethora of opportunities in which to become involved. There are so many opportunities to serve! Don’t be shy, there’s something for every skill level, no matter your age, you are very much welcome and encouraged to join in the mission of United.

As we transition, let us remember the words of Ecclesiastes 3: 11 as that scripture speaks to us of the seasons of life, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Amen to that!

Peace;

Pastor Paula
