A group of United members, ably led and instructed by Kim Leon, installed a new crabapple tree in front of the church on Saturday, the 26th. It was a beautiful morning, and this is going to be a beautiful tree!
It is fitting that this is an apple tree. There have often been comparisons and allusions to Jesus Christ as an apple tree, and a famous poem called “Jesus Christ the Apple Tree” dates to 1761, in England. Since then, this poem has been used in hymns and anthems by composers from the 18th century to the present day.
